Why Norwegian Startups Are Switching to Framer
You've probably been quoted 4–12 weeks and 200,000–500,000 NOK to build your first website. WordPress, custom code, even Webflow, traditional timelines don't match startup speed. Framer changes that. It's a visual web design tool where you design and publish in the same interface, no developer handoff, no waiting. At Luft Design, we deliver full Framer sites in 3–7 days.
Framer vs Webflow vs WordPress: The Honest Breakdown
We work with both Framer and Webflow at Luft Design, and we're transparent about when each makes sense. Here's how they compare for a typical 5-page startup marketing site.
Timeline
- Custom development: 3–6 months
- WordPress agency: 4–8 weeks
- Webflow agency: 2–4 weeks
- Framer with Luft Design: 4–7 days
Cost (5-page marketing site)
- Custom development: from 500,000 NOK
- Webflow: from 150,000 NOK
- Framer: from 80,000 NOK
That makes Framer roughly 60–75% cheaper than custom development and 30–50% cheaper than Webflow, while being significantly faster.
Choose Framer when you need
- Speed-to-market (launch in days, not weeks)
- Heavy animation and scroll effects
- A Figma-based workflow
- Simple content needs (under 100 pages)
- Startup landing pages for launch or fundraising
Choose Webflow when you need
- Complex CMS (100+ content items with relationships between collections)
- E-commerce functionality
- Advanced SEO controls (wildcard redirects, schema markup at scale)
- Long-term content management by non-technical teams
- Custom functionality and complex integrations
Where Framer falls short
No platform is perfect. Framer's CMS is more limited than Webflow's. It handles blogs and simple collections well, but struggles with complex content relationships. There's no built-in e-commerce. And if your team needs to make structural changes (not just content edits), they'll still need a designer. For content-heavy sites with hundreds of pages, Webflow or a custom solution is usually the better choice.
Why Framer Stands Out for Startups
Animation that actually converts
Most Norwegian startup websites look identical. Same templates, same stock photos, same static layouts. Framer has built-in motion design capabilities that would take 3–4x longer to build in Webflow and would be nearly impossible in WordPress. We're talking smooth scroll animations, micro-interactions on hover, page transitions, interactive elements, and spring physics that make your site feel alive.
This isn't just aesthetics. Motion design guides attention, communicates quality, and builds trust. When a visitor lands on your site and everything moves with intention, they assume the product behind it is equally polished.
The Figma-to-Framer advantage
If your startup already designs in Figma, Framer is the natural next step. Both tools share the same design language — Auto Layout, components, constraints. You can copy-paste components from Figma to Framer with roughly 90% fidelity.
The traditional workflow: design in Figma (1–2 weeks), hand off to developers, development (2–4 weeks), revisions (1–2 weeks). Total: 6–8 weeks. The Framer workflow: design in Figma (1–2 days), build in Framer (2–3 days), add animations (1 day), launch. Total: 4–6 days.
What Framer Sites Cost in Norway
Framer projects are faster to build than Webflow — the interface is simpler, animation is built-in, and you design and build in parallel. That means fewer hours and lower cost. Here's what to expect.
Landing pages (2–4 days)
From 30,000 NOK. Pre-launch waitlists, product announcements, conference pages, email capture campaigns.
Marketing sites (4–7 days)
From 80,000 NOK. Full 5–10 page startup websites including homepage, product pages, about, contact, and smooth page transitions.
Animated product showcases (1–2 weeks)
From 150,000 NOK. SaaS demos, app landing pages, interactive product tours with scroll-triggered animations and video integrations.
Figma-to-Framer conversion (2–5 days)
From 40,000 NOK. Transfer existing Figma designs to Framer, rebuild components, add responsive breakpoints, and implement animations.
Complex projects are scoped individually. These ranges are starting points — the final price depends on scope, number of pages, animation complexity, and timeline.
Our Process: Kickoff to Launch in One Week
Unlike traditional agencies that separate design and development into sequential phases, we design and build simultaneously in Framer.
Day 1: Kickoff and strategy
A 90-minute call covering project goals, target audience, competitor review, content strategy, and animation references. You get a project brief, sitemap, and timeline. Direct communication with the designer — no account managers.
Days 2–4: Design and build
Layout, content, styling, responsive breakpoints, animations, interactions, forms, and integrations — all built in parallel within Framer. You receive daily async updates and one mid-project review call.
Days 5–6: Review and refinement
You get a live Framer preview link. Two rounds of revisions are included, covering content, visual polish, animation timing, mobile responsiveness, and forms.
Days 6–7: Launch and training
Domain connection, SSL, analytics, SEO metadata, and mobile testing. Plus a 1-hour Framer Editor walkthrough and screen-recorded tutorials so your team can manage content independently.
Total time commitment from you across the entire week: roughly 4–5 hours.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Framer suitable for Norwegian companies?
Yes. Framer is used by thousands of European startups. The platform interface is in English (like most design tools), but we handle all communication, training, and support in Norwegian. Full UTF-8 support means Norwegian characters (æ, ø, å) work perfectly.
Can Framer integrate with Norwegian services?
Framer connects to Vipps, BankID, and other Norwegian services via form integrations and Zapier. If it has an API, we can connect it.
Is Framer GDPR compliant?
Yes. Framer hosts in EU data centers and is GDPR compliant. We implement cookie consent and tracking controls for all clients. Framer also includes built-in GDPR-compliant analytics.
Can my team update the site after launch?
That's one of Framer's biggest advantages. After our training session, your team can edit text, update images, add pages using templates, manage CMS content, and change colors and fonts. You only need us for major design changes, new templates, complex animations, or technical integrations.
Why are there so few Framer agencies in Norway?
Framer has only been production-ready since 2022. Most Norwegian agencies still run WordPress and Webflow workflows. We adopted Framer early and have been building Framer sites since 2023, making us one of the first specialized Framer studios in Norway.
